David Moyes must drop one West Ham player as soon as possible following the Anfield disaster.
After his awful performance against Liverpool, West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd must be dropped immediately.
Nayef Aguerd has repeatedly demonstrated that he is always prone to making a mistake when it matters most, and his error-prone character is now beginning to cost West Ham.
David Moyes, the Hammers manager, would have been angry with the 27-year-old’s performance against Liverpool today.
Before the game, there were numerous requests for him to be benched. According to Roshane Thomas of The Athletic, Moyes is definitely thinking about it.
And the Scot should have been brave enough to leave the Moroccan out of the lineup, especially after Konstantinos Mavropanos’ performance on Thursday night…
Nayef Aguerd must be removed from this West Ham team immediately.
The former Rennes defender was to blame for Liverpool’s first goal.
He was lost in his own world as Mohamed Salah darted in front of him to steal the ball, only to be brought down inside the penalty area by Aguerd.
Salah slammed home the resulting penalty, and the Hammers were punished yet again for a clumsy error by the 27-year-old centre-back.
Moyes must remove him from the team immediately and replace him with Mavropanos.
The Scot cannot continue to let Aguerd make these mistakes and get away with it.
West Ham’s next game is in the Carabao Cup against Lincoln, and I expect the Morocco international to be rested. It remains to be seen whether Moyes will have the confidence to rest him against Sheffield United in the Premier League.
