The Seattle Seahawks offense ‘didn’t play up to our expectations!’ against the Arizona Cardinals Geno Smith claims

The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Arizona Cardinals 20-10, although quarterback Geno Smith was dissatisfied with the offense’s performance.

The Seattle Seahawks improved to 4-2 on the season with a 20-10 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at Lumen Field, but quarterback Geno Smith isn’t overjoyed.

While the win kept Seattle within striking distance of the San Francisco 49ers, Smith struggled once again. He was 18 of 24 for 219 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

The Seahawks also converted 7 of 13 third-down attempts and were 1 of 3 in the red zone, as Shane Waldron’s offense struggled once again.

For Smith, the offense didn’t live up to the standard they had set for themselves.

“If I’m being honest, I don’t think we played up to our standard,” Smith said. “Personally, I feel like we left a lot out there. It’s the league. Any win you get you’re going to be happy with, right? A win is a win. But it’s kind of this weird feeling that I got, specifically, that feeling like I haven’t done enough, haven’t played my best game. But still we’re winning, and we’re getting the job done. But a lot left out there, I feel like. So I’m excited to get to work tomorrow so we can fix those things, clean up the mistakes that I’ve been making, and try to play a complete, clean game. ”

Smith is correct. A win is a win, and the Seahawks can take solace in that, especially since it was accomplished without their greatest receiver, DK Metcalf.

However, Smith has had turnovers creep into his game recently, and an interception and a fumbled snap, which the Arizona defense recovered, brought his score to three interceptions and a fumble in his previous two games, while the Seahawks’ offense has slowed due to mistakes.

Smith’s gaffes have been a source of discussion for head coach Pete Carroll.

“Yeah, and it’s something we’ve been talking about,” Carroll confirmed. “He took a shot (on the INT), trying to get one in, and he’s sick about it.” He should have swallowed the football or run with it right there. That is the range of possibilities. And he tried to cram one in. We were too hasty on the snap (fumble) and didn’t handle it properly.”

Going forward, the Seahawks have some work to do, but considering their up-and-down offense, which has five turnovers in the previous two games, they are still 4-2 with plenty to work on.

If those difficulties can be resolved, the Seahawks may be right in the thick of the NFC race. But, until then, Seattle’s self-inflicted wounds will continue to impede their effort to return to the postseason.
