Southampton Want to Sign Championship ‘Star Boy’, Could Replace Dibling..
Southampton could steal a march on their soon-to-be Championship rivals with a move for Oxford United starlet Tyler Goodrham in the summer transfer window – with a report suggesting that the south coast club could look to oust their divisional rivals to land the impressive young Championship star in the coming months.
It’s unknown as to who Southampton’s new manager will be after they sacked both Russell Martin and Ivan Juric throughout the campaign, but Goodrham would be a superb signing for whoever comes to the throne. Having already racked up 141 appearances for Oxford at the age of just 21 – including 41 in the second-tier and 79 in League One as they went up through the play-offs last season – he’s proven his worth to the relegated Premier League club.

The young Ireland international has been strongly linked with a move away from the Kassam Stadium already this season, with Leeds United among the clubs who were understood to be ‘tracking’ the Wycombe-born star, yet he stayed and despite only missing five games all season, he’s been influential with nine goal contributions from across the midfield – which could be a good sign to replace Tyler Dibling, who has been linked with moves away from the south coast.
With that in mind, Southampton are weighing up a move for his services, and his versatility could play a huge part in their bid to sign him, with Saints chiefs keen on bolstering their squad ahead of a return to the second-tier.
He only signed a new ‘long-term contract’ last summer, and although the length of the deal wasn’t discussed, it’s likely to land Oxford a big transfer fee should he leave Gary Rowett’s side in the coming months.

Southampton are expected to see Lesley Ugochukwu and Albert Grosbeak leave at the end of their loan spells from Chelsea and Rennes once the season comes to a close, whilst Adam Lallana’s contract will expire, and he could retire at the age of 37, and midfield recruits will be needed if they are to blossom in the Championship in the hopes of a return back to the Premier League.
