Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl and Will Still are the last two names in the running for the Southampton job as per Sky Sports…
Sheffield Wednesday head into the summer with the cloud of managerial uncertainty still lingering over them. SWFC chief Danny Rohl has been linked with a whole host of jobs.
Clubs across the country and into Europe are on the lookout for new bosses and Rohl’s impressive work and uncertain future at Hillsborough has seen him mentioned as a contender for various roles.

The Southampton job will be vacant ahead of their Championship return and after eyeing him in the winter as a potential Russell Martin replacement, Rohl has been firmly back in the frame as they look to fill the gap left by Ivan Juric’s departure.
Now, after persisting rumours, a new report from Sky Sports has said Sheffield Wednesday boss Rohl is one of the two final contenders identified by the Saints as they weigh up their next appointment.
Alongside SWFC man Rohl in the running is the highly rated Will Still, who has eyes on a job in the Championship following the decision to be closer to home in England having left RC Lens.
As has been widely reported, Rohl has a sizeable release clause in his Owls deal, though it feels increasingly likely that he will be moving on.

Clarity needed at Sheffield Wednesday
Clarity and stability is something Sheffield Wednesday fans have not had the luxury of for a while and heading into the summer, there remains questions over the future direction of the club and more specifically, the managerial situation.

Rohl has been linked with other jobs all year and has been indicating he sees his future elsewhere towards the end of the season. However, official communication from the club has not come yet, and it remains to be seen if there will be any.

Perhaps only when a club comes in and triggers his release clause will SWFC publicly address his future. As Southampton whittle their managerial search down to the last two contenders, one being Rohl, it could be that such a situation is not too far away in the future.
Destined for bigger things?
Rohl has become one of Europe’s highest rated young coaches for his impressive work at Sheffield Wednesday. He has cut a popular figure among fans for his work in tough circumstances, though the constant noise over his future and non committal answers to questions over a potential exit has seen some fans’ views on the boss tainted.

Nonetheless, the German is a coach held in extremely high regard and it seems likely that his next job is a notable step up. He could move to a higher level, but if Southampton were to swoop, he would be staying in the Championship.
However, the Saints are a club with rich financial backing and their ambition will be to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking, a far cry from the aims and hopes at SWFC.
