CPS says that Leeds United footballer Ian Poveda will appear in Manchester court for driving offenses.
The Crown Prosecution Service [CPS] has announced that Leeds United footballer Ian Poveda will appear in court next month to be sentenced for driving offences.
According to the CPS, the 23-year-old pled guilty to driving while disqualified and driving without insurance on April 14, last year. Poveda will be punished for the offenses on October 6 at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, according to the statement.
The winger joined Leeds from Manchester City in January 2020 and agreed to a four-and-a-half-year contract extension through the conclusion of the current season. Poveda was part of the promotion-winning squad that achieved Premier League membership the following season, and he played 14 times in the top tier before joining Blackburn Rovers on loan in August 2021. A bad ankle injury cut short his season, but he returned for the 2022/23 season and joined Blackpool Rovers on loan.
He returned to Leeds this summer and has been a part of new boss Daniel Farke’s plans, playing 90 minutes against Birmingham City. A groin issue held him out until he came back as an unused substitute when Sheffield Wednesday came to Elland Road.
