“Absolutely brilliant business” – Leeds United fan pundit reacts to Whites signing Premier League player

Leeds United completed their summer business by signing the Bournemouth winger at the last minute.

Given the circumstances of losing Luis Sinisterra on deadline day, Leeds United fans are enthusiastic about the arrival of Jaidon Anthony.
Anthony is regarded as a top-tier Championship winger who adds creativity and a dual threat out wide.
He will be up against other great options in the team, but his ability to contribute both creatively and offensively will be critical for Leeds’ attacking style of play.

The final Leeds player to depart Elland Road this summer was Luis Sinisterra, although the Yorkshire club did not leave empty-handed.

Jaidon Anthony was signed in the last minutes of the deadline day, moving the Colombian international to Bournemouth.

The 23-year-old winger joins on a season-long loan, returning to the Championship after winning promotion with the Cherries in 2021/22.

That same season, the academy graduate burst into the spotlight, appearing 45 times and scoring eight goals and six assists.

Anthony has now gone on to prove his talent on the big stage, appearing in 33 Premier League games, but he is now prepared for another competitive Championship season.

How do Leeds United supporters feel?

Anthony’s move was somewhat expected due to the pandemonium that is transfer deadline day.

Kris Smith, a Leeds United supporter on FLW, is enthusiastic about the deal, with the Whites embracing more innovation into their ranks.

“Given that we were losing Sinisterra in the final minutes on deadline day, I think coming away with Jaidon Anthony as part of that deal is absolutely brilliant business,” he told Football League World.

“Given the circumstances of how many players we’ve left on loan and not much money coming in, the club has done really well in negotiations all summer, and to see another go on loan and bring in a top-level Championship winger in return is really impressive.”

What competition does Jaidon Anthony face?

Although the departures of wingers Luis Sinisterra and Jack Harrison to Premier League clubs will be felt, Leeds are not without quality options at this level.

For the first weekend match against Cardiff City, Daniel James and Crysencio Summerville completed the attacking quartet on either side, with the latter dropping out of the lineup due to injury for the following games, with Jamie Shackleton used on the right side.

Summerville has now returned to action, while emerging sensation Wilfried Gnonto has also made his way back into the setup after a failed deal to Everton, and has subsequently spurred on despite disagreements behind the scenes last month.

The Italian teenager repaid the manager’s faith by scoring against Ipswich in a seven-goal victory.

Jaidon Anthony will be needed on both a creative and goalscoring front as Leeds revert to their former offensive ways, as goals have been spread among the club with no player scoring more than one.

The Bournemouth loanee will attempt to supply Patrick Bamford, Jol Piroe, and Georginio Rutter in the hope of obtaining an immediate return to the Premier League.
