Three teams continue to surface in Raptors trade rumors; here’s what they have to offer.
The Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers, and Atlanta Hawks have all been mentioned in trade discussions involving the Toronto Raptors, and here’s what they have to offer.
There has been no indication that the Raptors are prepared to make a move now or at the trade deadline. However, trade rumors have already begun to circulate, with the Atlanta Hawks, Indiana Pacers, and Sacramento Kings being the most frequently linked to the Raptors.
We’ll have plenty of time to dissect hypothetical trade ideas, but let’s start with their assets. The Hawks, Pacers, and Kings all have something to offer.
Most rumored Atlanta trade packages have included De’Andre Hunter, AJ Griffin, and future draft pick compensation for Siakam. That specific deal, however, is not financially viable and would necessitate Atlanta adding a player earning more than $6.5 million. Patty Mills, for example, would make it happen and would almost certainly be involved in any trade that sends Siakam to Atlanta.
The Pacers have a slew of intriguing young players as well as their full first-round pick plus one. They have the ability to make a deal; it’s just a matter of their desire to do so. Keep in mind that they’ll have plenty of cap space next summer to pursue free agents if they choose to go that route.
Keegan Murray could be the swing player in a deal with the Kings, but it’s unclear whether Sacramento would be willing to part ways with the 23-year-old sophomore. Without him, the Kings lack tradeable first-round picks and valuable prospects to make a deal.
Siakam is set to earn $37.9 million this year, which means acquiring teams will have to send back a figure that is roughly comparable to the large sum they have incoming. This could make any mid-season trades for Toronto more difficult.
