Dodgers Trade Proposal Gives Starting Pitcher Fresh Start in AL West…
Not long ago, starting pitcher Bobby Miller was on the verge of being a young star for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Last season, however, was a disastrous year for Miller for many reasons. After a great rookie season in 2023, Miller followed that up with some challenging performances while going in and out of the injured list. Miller went from a 3.76 ERA in 22 games throughout 2023 to an 8.52 ERA in only 13 games last season. While attempting a last-ditch effort to prove his place in a loaded starting pitching roster during spring training, Miller took a line drive to the head that required him to be out for some time. Miller started his 2025 campaign with the Dodgers’ Triple-A team, the Oklahoma City Comets, on Mar. 30 against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys. Miller only allowed two hits and two walks while not allowing a run and striking out four players at the plate. He pitched 4.2 innings as the starting
pitcher. Miller still has an opportunity to become a star pitcher in the league, but it might not be with the Dodgers. Los Angeles can get an extensive package by trading Miller to a team like the Houston Astros, who have early-season problems with injuries and consistency with their starting pitchers. Miller will be 26 years old on April 5 and is on a great path to bouncing from a terrible 2024 season, but the Dodgers have too many elite pitchers in their starting unit. Even with rookie Roki Sasaki struggling, Miller is on the outside of the deep, talented unit. The Dodgers need to start developing some young stars. They can start by seeing what they could get from sending Miller to the Astros. Miller can get a new start with a Houston team that still has championship-contending goals despite some early-season struggles.
