Mixed feelings after hearing Jurickson Profar suspended for PEDs..
The beloved former Padre failed an offseason test..
Wow. Jurickson Profar has been suspended by Major League Baseball for testing positive for Chorionic Gonadotrophin (hCG), a performance enhancing substance, in violation of Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. He will be out for 80 games and then won’t be eligible to play for the Atlanta Braves in the postseason.
Below is Jurickson Profar’s statement:
“Braves fans, Today is the most difficult day of my baseball career. I am devastated to announce that I have been suspended for 80 games by Major League Baseball and the Commissioner’s office, for testing positive for a banned substance this offseason. This is especially painful for me because anyone who knows me and has seen me play knows I am deeply passionate about the game. There is nothing I love more than competing with my teammates and being a fan favorite. I want to apologize to the entire Braves organization, my teammates, and the fans. It is because of my deep love and respect for this game that I would never knowingly do anything to cheat it. I have been tested my entire career, including eight times last season alone, and have never tested positive. I would never willingly take a banned substance, but I take full responsibility and accept MLB’s decision. I am devastated that I won’t be on the field with my teammates for the next 80 games. I look forward to competing again at the highest level this season upon my return.”
As someone who loved Jurickson as a Padre, this sucks to see. You never want someone who seems to be as good of a human being as he is have to go through this.
But I’m a Padres fan and he’s currently not a Padre. He’s on another National League contender who could be the reason why my team misses the postseason so there’s a part of me that’s also happy about this news.
Profar is at the top of that lineup and is coming off a career season. Not only will he not be available for the Padres final three regular season games vs. Atlanta in May but we also know he won’t be hitting 24 homers and driving in 85 runs this season.
Who knows when Ronald Acuna Jr. will be back and now Atlanta’s lineup will suffer even more so this period of time could cost them a playoff spot—and help give the Padres one.

Tatis Jr. leads the Padres in hits (7), runs (5), stolen bases (3), and home runs (1) this season. The 26-year-old has been a major reason why San Diego has gone 4-0 so far.

The 2025 MLB season carries major implications for the Padres. San Diego is vying for an elusive World Series after coming up short last year with nearly the same nucleus.
Tatis Jr. will be a major difference-maker for the Friars in their bid to win the Fall Classic this time around. So far, he is work at the plate has been excellent, further exemplified by his .467/.529/.733 slash line with a 1.263 OPS.
Could Tatis Jr. outshine NL superstars this season?
The righty slugger has been heralded as the best player in the big leagues leading up to this season. He also champions that label, with its merit showing in the Padres star’s body of work.
Though it is early in the campaign Tatis Jr. is a name to watch for the NL MVP. Seeing that he’s also playing well defensively, with an unblemished fielding percentage thus far, the seven-year veteran could come out ahead over the best talents in the league once the campaign concludes.
