Harry Maguire makes U-turn on decision to turn down West Ham United, loan move mooted

Harry Maguire is now open to joining West Ham on loan after previously turning down a permanent deal at the club, according to Alex Crook.

The talkSPORT journalist reported on 28 August that the Hammers remain interested in the England international, but that Manchester United don’t feel a loan move is appealing to them.

He said it appears as though the 30-year-old defender has now had a “change of heart” on his decision to reject the Irons on 15 August after a £30million fee had been agreed between the two clubs.

Move on

There is no way West Ham should be entertaining any deal regarding Maguire anymore after he decided he was too good for the club just a couple of weeks ago.

The reality has probably set in that he isn’t going to get much game time at Manchester United after previously deciding he wanted to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford.

The last thing we need, though, is a player that deep down doesn’t want to be at the club and his extremely high wages could potentially cause unrest within the camp.

The signing of Konstantinos Mavropanos from VfB Stuttgart should have really put the story to bed, but it appears as though someone at the Hammers – most likely David Moyes – still holds him in high regard.

It seems unlikely the Red Devils would even consider a loan move for him anyway after previously agreeing on a £30million fee, so it’s time for everyone to move on and accept Maguire won’t be joining us this summer.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are tracking three strikers as they look to land a last-ditch deal.
