Kevin Schade of Brentford is injured before Everton’s defeat.
Brentford forward Kevin Schade was ruled out of Saturday’s 3-1 loss against Everton due to an injury sustained in the warm-up.
Schade, who came off the bench against Newcastle United last weekend, was picked to the starting lineup for Saturday’s game against the Toffees at the Brentford Community Stadium.
However, the Germany international was unable to play due to an injury sustained during the pre-match warm-up.
The 21-year-old was participating in shooting drills with his colleagues when he collapsed on the ground, clutching his groin after striking the ball with his left foot.
Schade appeared to be in a lot of pain as his teammates and backroom staff approached him before the medical professionals arrived to check the injury.
Schade was replaced in the Brentford starting XI by midfielder Keane Lewis-Potter after he was ruled out of the game.
Despite going into halftime level after Mathias Jensen had cancelled off Abdoulaye Doucoure’s opening, the Bees had a rough day.
Everton retook the lead in the second half through James Tarkowski, before Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored four minutes later to consign Brentford to their second consecutive defeat.
The result puts the Bees in 13th place in the Premier League table, with six points from as many games.
Following the dismal 3-1 loss, Brentford manager Thomas Frank stated that the degree of Schade’s injury was unknown.
“To be fair, I don’t know,” Frank admitted to reporters. “I suppose it’s not at the top, but I don’t know the full picture.” I was more concerned with getting Keane ready, and it wasn’t in the forefront of my mind at the time.”
Schade’s setback comes as a blow to Brentford, who just learned that Rico Henry will miss the rest of the season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The Bees will now focus on Wednesday’s home game against Arsenal in the third round of the EFL Cup.
