Martin Brundle believes Lewis Hamilton has lost a great deal of confidence over the last few years, with Mercedes struggling to hit their former heights. Hamilton will leave the Silver Arrows at the end of the season to join Ferrari after growing disillusioned with life at his current team.

The 39-year-old recently ended his two-year wait for a Grand Prix victory at Silverstone, setting the record for the most wins at a single circuit. It took him a while to find his feet, though, with George Russell having dominated the head-to-head battle at Mercedes this season.

Hamilton’s victory brought an end to the darkest spell of his career, with Brundle pointing out the gradual loss of confidence he has experienced over the last few seasons.
