Wanderers net transfer fee as ‘prolific’ forward heads to MLS: ‘We are excited’

Western Sydney Wanderers have sold Subway Olyroos forward Lachlan Brook to MLS outfit Real Salt Lake.

The Isuzu UTE A-League side have netted an undisclosed transfer fee for “prolific” Brook, who won Western Sydney’s Golden Boot alongside teammate Nicolas Milanovic in 2023-24.

In in his one and only season with the Wanderers, the 23-year-old scored 14 goals across all competitions – including nine in the A-Leagues and a five-goal haul in the Australia Cup.

“Choosing to come to Real Salt Lake was a no-brainer for me,” said Brook via Real Salt Lake.

“Major League Soccer is a league which is growing internationally in its profile and RSL is a club where I know I’ll be able to further develop my game.

“After speaking with Pablo, it is clear the culture they’ve set at the club, and the environment provides a place in which I expect to strive. I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to take this next step in my career. I cannot wait to get started and play in front of the amazing fans at America First Field.”

Brook is the latest Isuzu UTE A-League talent to be sold to an MLS club, joining former Wellington Phoenix centre-back Finn Surman (Portland Timbers), ex-Adelaide United full-back Giuseppe Bovalina (Vancouver Whitecaps) and former Sydney FC sensation Jake Girdwood-Reich (St Louis City) this season.

“We are excited to bring Lachlan aboard this summer,” said RSL Chief Soccer Officer Kurt Schmid.

“He’s a technical and versatile attacker with quick feet. He’s coming off a good season in Australia with nine goals and three assists, and will look to carry that momentum into MLS.

“His quickness, technique, and his timing of arriving in the box at the right time should allow him to mesh well with all of our dynamic attacking options.”
