Special 5-Star Flip to Watch on Mystery-Filled Signing Day for the Nebraska Cornhuskers
Right now, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are racking up some of the greatest recruiting victories in college football, and they’re hoping to add more. Having been on both sides of flips in recruiting, it seems like anything is up for grabs as long as a recruit shows interest.
Ryan Wingo, a prospective wide receiver for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, has verbally committed to play for the Texas Longhorns. But, there seems to be a new push by the Missouri Tigers, who are determined to win the state’s top offensive talent, as one of the most highly sought after wide receiver high school recruits from the best programs. According to certain crystal ball predictions, Wingo is expected to visit Missouri in the fall.
Early on Wednesday morning, a photo of Wingo and Dylan Raiola wearing Nebraska Cornhuskers gear together went viral on social media. The rumors that Wingo is joining Raiola, as they did during their March 24 visit to Lincoln earlier this year, are only intensifying in light of this and a report from Greg Smith.
The image itself dates back to that March visit, but there’s also the allure of possibly getting passes from Raiola. At one point, the two had even been given crystal balls to play for the Georgia Bulldogs. Although the outcome of the Georgia prediction is well known, the two seem to respect each other’s skill sets enough to keep the same universities in mind during the process.
The likelihood of Nebraska Cornhuskers landing Wingo
Wingo talked about how unique Steve Sarkisian’s offense is and how they get the ball into the hands of their playmakers when he first declared his commitment to Texas. Since the players are acquainted, Wingo believes that Raiola is a gifted player who can get him the ball.
Their fan base is among the best in the nation, and Coach Rhule is creating something truly unique.
By being more visible in the media, Matt Rhule has improved his perception in the eyes of potential players and strengthened his already solid reputation as a coach who players enjoy working with.
Skillset of Nebraska Cornhuskers Recruits
It’s understandable why he received a five-star review. He catches the ball with good technique. At 6’2 and with his vertical, it’s difficult to see him miss many jump balls or fail to draw a pass interference foul. He is skilled at high pointing the ball.
As soon as you watch him play, his speed jumps out. Because of his ability to get past defenders, he could be a valuable asset right away to exploit specific looks in opposition teams’ coverage. His ability to use feints to freeze defenders in the open field is an underappreciated aspect of his game. Not only does he have limited big play potential as a receiver.
Regardless of how the ball is passed to him, Wingo is dangerous when it’s in his hands. He was a very good punt returner who could also be utilized on special teams. Alternatively, he could run the ball off of certain jet sweep plays, just like he did in high school. Wingo can make a big play on any given down.
