Titans DT Teair Tart, a former Texan, signs with the Dolphins
Up front, the Miami Dolphins defense is receiving some assistance.
Teair Tart, a defensive tackle, was signed by the Fins, as they revealed on Monday. The agreement’s terms were kept a secret.
Tart was listed at No. 88 in NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal’s Top 101 free agents, following a turbulent 2023 campaign.
After spending his first three and a half seasons with the Tennessee Titans, Tart, 27, was suspended by the NFL for one game in 2023 for unsportsmanlike behavior and unnecessary roughness. The Titans then terminated Tart. Tart was inactive for both of the Houston Texans’ two postseason games despite having been claimed by them and playing his whole season with them.
On defense, Miami has lost a number of key players, such as cornerback Xavien Howard, linebacker Jerome Baker, and defensive tackle Christian Wilkins. Tairt will now be a part of a young defense that also includes safety Jordan Poyer, cornerback Kendall Fuller, and linebacker Jordyn Brooks.
Tart, who has appeared in 47 games overall, has started 36 of them. He should be especially helpful in the run game. With 79 stops, 16 tackles for loss, and 14 quarterback hits, he has only recorded 2.5 sacks in his career.
