Wolves monitoring Brazilian teenager with £58m release clause

Fans are very disgruntled at the moment after the team lost for the sixth time in the Premier League on Saturday.

A shoddy defensive performance saw Wanderers lose 5-3 at the Gtech Community Stadium and the mood has not been this low at the club for some time. At full-time, there were chants for Fosun to go.

The fixture list was always going to mean a tough start. But many felt Wolves would have done better than just one point after seven games.

Amid the struggles on the pitch, Wolves are seemingly still active on player recruitment.

And it looks as though the club may have identified another young talent from South America.

Wolves keeping tabs on Santos wonderkid Joao Pedro Chermont

It has been reported by Caught Offside that Wolves are one of a host of clubs taking an interest in highly rated Santos youngster Joao Pedro Chermont also known as JP Chermont.

Wolves, of course, have had good success bringing in players from South America in recent times.

The signing of Joao Gomes from Flamengo turned out really well, and there are also very high hopes for Pedro Lima, who came from Sport Recife.

Wolves may be hoping to land another gem in Chermont, who is also apparently on the radars on Arsenal, Everton, and Chelsea.

It is stated that Arsenal and Chelsea are actually both preparing to make offers for Chermont, who has a release clause worth £58 million. Of course, that does not necessarily mean he’ll leave for that much and it is actually mentioned that Santos would be open to offers below that figure.

Furthermore, there is interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Chermont has made 29 appearances for Serie B side Santos since making his debut for the club back in March.

Wolves will do well to sign Chermont

Many Wolves fans are likely to not get too excited about links to young players at the moment given the club’s awful state right now.

But Wolves appear to have interest in Chermont, and the club may be looking to repeat the success they had with landing Pedro Lima.

Lima was wanted by Chelsea, but chose Wolves in the end after the club sold their project honestly. It was more in line with what Lima wanted, with the youngster feeling he would have a better pathway to first-team football.

Wolves would like to hope that they could lure Chermont ahead of the competition, just like they did with Lima

It would obviously be much more difficult for him to get regular minutes at the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid or Barcelona.
