A number of Premier League clubs were interested in the 23-year-old this summer, and there is no doubt that if Tottenham had been able to sign him, he would have been a superb signing.

It will be intriguing to see whether Tottenham decides to pursue Gallagher again in the near future.

Meanwhile, Hojbjerg has been linked with a departure ever since Ange Postecoglou arrived, and there is speculation that he may not be suited to the Australian’s style of play.
