“We’ll see in summer” – Agency sitting on fence about Brentford player’s future
In the winter market, Fiorentina allowed Michael Kayode to join Brentford on a loan deal with an option to buy.
The right-back played 124 minutes from seven games for Brentford and that includes one start. He suffered a knee injury in March that kept him on the sidelines for close to a month and returned to action at the start of April.
Earlier this week, we covered claims from Italy that the 20-year-old’s future at Brentford is still unclear because the Bees haven’t made a decision whether to exercise the clause.
Vigo Global Sport Services Srl represent Kayode and their chief scout, Andrea Ritorni, who has followed the player. Sportitalia had a chat with him to find out about the fullback.
Ritorni, claims he speaks to the Italian every day, was asked if Kayode is enjoying his life in England.
“He’s very happy to play in English football. He gets along very well with his teammates and the coach. He also played a couple of games with U23s where he did really well,” he said.
“Changing clubs, environments, cultures aren’t easy, and a few weeks of adjustment were also needed to get back into the right rhythm of play.”
The agency official was asked whether the Fiorentina man could stay at Brentford beyond this season.
“I don’t have a magic ball, he has to think about doing well, doing his best on the pitch. Then the pitch itself will tell what will happen,” Ritorni explained.
“The important thing is that he does well in these months, that he commits himself, then we’ll see in the summer what happens, and Brentford will decide because they have the right to redeem from Fiorentina, otherwise we’ll see in due time.”
Ritorni states Kayode’s immediate goals are to impress for Thomas Frank’s side when given opportunities.
Sportitalia then asked whether a move to a ‘top-tier’ Premier League club in the future is on the agenda.
Responding to that, he added: “One step at a time, first of all he has to think about doing well where he is, then if he is able to assert himself over the years, that type of call will certainly come, but he is already in an important club and comes from an important club like Fiorentina, to which he is and will always be tied.”
Brentford hosted free heart screenings last weekend, providing potentially life-saving cardiac assessment for young people aged 18-35.
Held at the Community Stadium Hub across Saturday and Sunday, Heart of West London (HoWL) partner organisations Brentford FC Community Sports Trust (BFCCST), Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), the Robert Rowan Memorial Fund (RRMF) and A-K-A Day charity ran the vital screenings.
198 people were able to undertake the cardiac assessment, following on from the 1000th free heart screening this time last year funded by RRMF.
According to CRY’s research, 12 young people under the age of 35 die each week in the UK from undiagnosed heart conditions.
HoWL’s mission is to prevent sudden cardiac death by increasing access to resources and support and by ensuring everyone has the skill to save lives.
