The Tricky Trees have enjoyed a remarkable season under Nuno Espirito Santo, but their 2-0 loss to Man City on Sunday (27 April) ended their chance of capping it off with a trophy.

Whilst devastating for the players and fans, the loss may be a blessing in disguise with Forest now able to focus wholly on qualifying for the Champions League.

The post was liked by Arsenal star Rice and Tottenham striker Solanke, both showing their support for the well-liked Nigeria international.

Having established himself as one of the Premier League’s top-performing defenders earlier in the season, Aina garnered interest from Man City.

The former Chelsea defender was seen as an ideal replacement for Kyle Walker who joined AC Milan on loan in January.

Whilst no move materialised in the winter window, Aina’s future remains clouded in uncertainty.

Even those starlets out on loan have impressed, as Dale Taylor won Wigan Athletic’s Player of the Year award to set up a flurry of talent for Nuno Espirito Santo to assess in pre-season.

Taylor earned praise from Ryan Lowe at the end of his loan spell, but it is one of the gems who stayed at the City Ground this season who caught the eye of Aina and Elanga on Instagram.

Zach Abbott scored the winning penalty as the final ended 0-0 after extra time, meaning the academy stars had to show great composure to hold their nerve in the shootout.

They had the perfect group to take inspiration from, though, as the first team triumphed in three shootouts to reach the FA Cup semi-final. Stars of the senior squad were therefore quick to appreciate the impressive nature of the victory.
