Brian Laudrup encourages Christian Eriksen to make incredible return when Man Utd deal expires, ‘where he built his name…’

Christian Eriksen faces an uncertain future at Manchester United after a turbulent campaign.

Although Christian Eriksen is 33-years-old and past his best, the Denmark international has managed 29 appearances for Manchester United across all competitions.

Under Ruben Amorim, the Dane has played a bit-part role, but he could still play an important role in United’s Europa League run, should the Reds beat Lyon in the quarter-final decider on Thursday night.

Much has been written about Eriksen’s future and, as things stand, he is headed towards the exit door at Old Trafford this summer when his contract expires.

Ineos are planning a squad overhaul which will require getting rid of players, especially those considered surplus to requirements by the new management.

Eriksen may have played more games than you’d expect from a player past his best at United, but he’s still a capable athlete at a high level, which means he could earn a decent move away from the club when the season ends.

The reason Eriksen is surplus to requirements at United is his age and the fact he is no longer a regular in the team.

There are other big clubs in competitive leagues that would still see Eriksen as a key player if he were to join them in the summer.

From 32 Premier League games this season, Eriksen has appeared 18 times for United, with the Reds sitting in the bottom half of the table.

Eriksen is unlikely to start in United’s Europa Leauge quarter-final decider against Lyon on Thursday night, after missing out on a starting berth in last week’s first-leg.

Former Denmark international Brian Laudrup has now tipped Eriksen to return to Ajax, where he made his name before joining Tottenham in his first move to the Premier League.

In a chat with ViaPlay, as relayed by TipsBladet, Laudrup said: “Christian seems like someone who needs a certain kind of security and to have his family close by.

“I can’t use him going somewhere exotic, but I can see him going to Ajax, which has also been mentioned several times.”

Eriksen was linked with a return to Ajax last year, but a deal never materialised because he was still under contract at Old Trafford. This summer he will be a free agent.

Eriksen starts at Ajax
Eriksen played for Ajax between 2009 and 2013 and made his Eredivisie debut against NAC Breda at just 17-years-old in 2010.

He went on to win three league titles one KNVB Cup and one Johan Cruyff Shield.

Amsterdam is where Eriksen grew to become a top European player at a young age and it would mark a special homecoming if he were to return after such an incredible career.
