Doug Nussmeier will join the Eagles’ staff; Christian Parker of the Broncos is expected to be hired.

Vic Fangio and Kellen Moore are bringing some well-known employees to Philadelphia. Doug Nussmeier, who has collaborated with Moore in Dallas and Los Angeles, will be among them.

The Eagles have signed Nussmeier as their quarterbacks coach, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com. Furthermore, Dan Graziano of ESPN.com tweets that Christian Parker from the Broncos’ staff is anticipated to be hired by the Eagles. Parker was a prominent contender in the DC race this year. The youthful aide will reunite with Fangio, who employed him in Denver.

From 2018 to 22, Moore and Nussmeier co-coached in Dallas, with the latter switching from tight ends coach to quarterbacks coach during that time. When Moore took over as Chargers offensive coordinator last year, he brought Nussmeier with him to Los Angeles. Although that stint did not go particularly well, Moore will be allowed to continue coaching Jalen Hurts with his longtime colleague by the Eagles.

Given that both employees were associated with the Cowboys for an extended period of time, the Eagles are undoubtedly acquainted with Moore and Nussmeier. From 2008 to 2017, the latter also worked as an offensive coordinator for five different college teams, including Florida, Michigan, and Alabama. Under Nick Sirianni, the Eagles have hired a second former Gators offensive coordinator to serve as the quarterbacks coach. In 2021, the Eagles hired Gainesville native Brian Johnson as Hurts’ coach—the assistant had known the player for years. After just one season as OC, the Eagles fired Johnson; no other team has yet to hire the youthful employee.

Nussmeier had already moved to Dallas by the time Johnson arrived in Gainesville, so the two did not coach together at Florida. While interviewing Nussmeier, 53, for the OC position in 2023, the Ravens selected Todd Monken instead. Now, Philly will give two former Cowboys employees more responsibility for Hurts’ development. Now that Jim Harbaugh was in charge of the Chargers, Nussmeier had to devise new strategies.

Parker, 32, had off-season interviews for the DC positions with the Patriots and Packers. As the team’s DBs coach under Fangio, Nathaniel Hackett, and Sean Payton, he has been a valued member of the Denver team. Parker, who was the final Fangio assistant coach to depart this season, managed players like Patrick Surtain and Justin Simmons. Throughout his career, Parker has mentored the latter, who is currently a two-time Pro Bowl player. In 2023, he also served as a mentor to Ja’Quan McMillian, a rookie UDFA slot cornerback.

In addition, NFL.com’s Cameron Wolfe tweets that the Eagles have hired Dolphins assistant Joe Kasper to be their safeties coach. According to Wolfe, Fangio targeted Kasper, and the Eagles declined his request for an interview last week. Even though Fangio’s fit with the Dolphins hasn’t worked out, at least one staff member will follow the seasoned defensive coordinator to Miami. Kasper, who worked for the Eagles from 2021 to 2022 as a quality control assistant, is making a return trip. Kasper’s season as a consultant for Fangio helped him land a job as safeties coach in Miami.

DBs coach D.K. McDonald, who worked under Sean Desai and Jonathan Gannon in Philadelphia, is leaving to take a job as co-defensive coordinator at Kansas, according to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic. This becomes intriguing because McDonald worked for Sirianni from 2022 to 2023, and he and Fangio overlapped in 2022. The former Gannon assistant started as the assistant DBs coach for the Philadelphia Eagles before becoming the secondary coach in 2023.
