Iliman Ndiaye is keen to join Marseille over Everton.

The attacker is likely to leave Sheffield United this summer and is already in talks with his boyhood club over a return to France, according to Foot Mercato.

Born in Rouen, Ndiaye a year with Marseille’s academy before he eventually moved to England and made his senior debut for the Blades in 2021.

The 23-year-old quickly became a star for United, bagging an impressive 14 goals and 10 assists last season as they won promotion to the Premier League.

Despite having the opportunity to play in the top flight, Ndiaye could leave this summer as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Everton are among the teams to express interest in signing Ndiaye, however it appears he is very interested in rejoining Marseille.

Ndiaye’s recent interview with So Foot reflected his love for the French club, as he said: “Since I was a little boy, I have loved OM. The first jersey my father bought me was this one.

“They seem to have a good project, the president (Pablo Longoria) has been doing a good job since he was there. Why not one day!”

Everton could get a cut-price deal if they can lure Iliman Ndiaye to Merseyside

Iliman Ndiaye has been brilliant for Sheffield United and they certainly won’t want to risk him leaving for free next summer, so could potentially offload him on the cheap.

The Blades think very highly of their star man, with Head of Player Development, Jack Lester, previously heaping praise on him.

“He does things you can’t coach,” He said.

“He’s so natural, the way he deals with the ball. Beautifully balanced and poised. He’s a lovely lad, always smiling. Very popular. Fearless, a tough kid. Strong on the ball and not nice to play against.”

The Daily Mail reported that Everton were looking to make a £15 million bid for the forward in January, so it would be a surprising to see him cost any more than that this time round.

While Ndiaye would be a very good signing, it could be down to the player himself as to whether he stays in England.

If the 23-year-old wants to return to France then the Toffees maybe want to avoid splashing the cash on players who don’t want to be there.
