Raiders Are Playing in Star QB’s “Dream World”: Report
It doesn’t seem like the Las Vegas Raiders will be able to select LSU’s Jayden Daniels in the first round. Because of his relationship to head coach Antonio Pierce, the team has been pursuing the quarterback this offseason; however, indications suggest that the Washington Commanders will select him at No. 2.
The Raiders attempted to contact the Commanders regarding a potential trade but were denied access. Daniels will be disappointed to hear that news. The quarterback wants to be in Las Vegas, but he won’t turn down the opportunity to play for the Commanders, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic.
As stated by league sources, “Since the visit [with the Commanders], Daniels has told people in his ‘dream world’ he could play under Kevin O’Connell in Minnesota or reunite with Las Vegas Raiders coach Antonio Pierce, who was an assistant coach at Arizona State during Daniels’ time with the Sun Devils,” Russini wrote in a column on April 24. The consensus in the league is that Daniels and the Commanders will overcome this obstacle, and he is anticipated to be the team’s quarterback in the future. However, keep an eye out for the Commanders to reenter the first round in order to select a player of starting caliber, perhaps using one or more of their second-day picks.
