Leeds United, Luton Town and Coventry City in transfer race for David Brekalo

Leeds United, Luton Town and Coventry City are all vying for the services of Viking defender David Brekalo according to On The Minute.

The media outlet reported on Tuesday (29 August) that a £5.5million bid is being considered by the Whites for the Slovenia centre-back.

The source has over 11k followers on Facebook and has exclusively broken the story of the Leeds’ interest in the 24-year-old.

Good option

Brekalo is a composed centre-back who’s good with the ball at his feet and will add value to the Leeds backline.

Daniel Farke has shown a willingness to prioritise possession and playing out from the back and that should explain the links to the Slovenian.

However, whether or not that bid will be enough to sign him remains to be seen, but the Whites must not wait too long.

The window shuts on Friday and instead of getting embroiled in the deadline day drama, it’s best if they get done with their business as early as possible.

A new centre-back signing has to be on the cards before the window closes along with a couple of midfield reinforcements.

Time is not currently on Leeds’ side so whatever they do needs to be done quickly.

In other Leeds United news, agents and personal terms update has emerged as the Whites have agreed a fee for another new signing.
