Charlton Athletic Warded Off Interest From Germany For Star Attacker

According to the South London Press, Charlton Athletic resisted interest in teenage sensation Miles Leaburn from a number of Championship clubs as well as a squad in Germany.

Despite the team’s on-field troubles, Leaburn broke through the Charlton ranks last season and achieved an astounding 13 goals in all competitions in his rookie season, including 12 in League One.

Due to the transfer window closing last Friday, the 19-year-old will remain at the Valley until at least January despite clubs in Germany and England’s second division showing interest in signing him due to his potential and outstanding start to life as a professional footballer.

An unknown German team launched three proposals, but Charlton Athletic steadfastly resisted all of them, insisting that they should keep Leaburn.

Dobson and Blackett-Taylor bids

The SLP also disclosed that Derby County and AFC Wrexham each made offers for winger Corey Blackett-Taylor and captain George Dobson, respectively, but both were rejected by the Addicks.

Dobson and Blackett-Taylor are in the final year of their current contracts, so if they decline to sign extensions, they might leave Charlton for free the following summer.

Leaburn suffered an injury during preseason, thus his return to the starting lineup has been gradual over the past week. He even played only 45 minutes against Crawley Town in a 4-3 loss in the EFL Trophy. Prior to being replaced at the end of his cameo, Leaburn scored a goal and recorded an assist.
