Former Utility Man for the Promising Astros Signs with Detroit Tigers

A free agent contract has been signed by a player the Houston Astros traded for the Detroit Tigers before the 2023 season.

Ahead of the 2023 season, the Houston Astros acquired a promising utility player in a trade. In exchange for Bligh Madris, they sent cash considerations to the Detroit Tigers.

Sadly, neither party was satisfied with the trade, and he now has a minor league contract with the Tigers this offseason, per MLB Trade Rumors.

The Pittsburgh Pirates selected the infielder/outfielder in Round 9 of the 2017 MLB Draft. In 2021, he was named Rookie of the Year for the Pirates’ Triple-A affiliate.

The infielder/outfielder, who the Pittsburgh Pirates originally selected in Round 9 of the 2017 MLB Draft, won Rookie of the Year for the Pirates’ Triple-A affiliate in 2021.

The Tampa Bay Rays claimed Madris after he was designated for assignment. He played 10 games for the Rays’ Triple-A affiliate before Detroit claimed him again after he was designated for assignment.

After the Astros acquired him, the utilityman mainly played for their Triple-A affiliate, where he amassed 36 RBI and a slash line of.249/.363/.446.

After a strong showing in the minor leagues, Houston gave him another chance at the major league level by adding him to their roster in June.

Regretfully, he slashed during his second MLB stint, just like the first.154/.267/.192 in 12 games with just one extra base hit, zero home runs, and zero RBI.

In order to make room for first baseman Jon Singleton’s promotion, Madris was demoted once more.

He decided to exercise his right to free agency after the season and signed with the Tigers for the next one.
