Newcastle United’s injured room is currently a gloomy closet of sorrow, presumably metaphorically; I’m sure the actual place is gorgeous.

Sandro Tonali has joined the ranks of the walking wounded today, but one man who has been on the list for a long is pushing forward with his recuperation and appears to be on the verge of returning.

Joe Willock, who posted a video of himself jogging on a treadmill in Barcelona, sent a hopeful message to his Instagram followers via a reel that said, “I promise I will be back stronger.”

Willock has not been seen since last season.

Willock has been out since the end of last season, when he suffered a severe hamstring injury.

Willock’s injury kept him out of the lineup for the whole preseason and the start of the current season.
Willock’s return to play appeared to be on the horizon, but the 24-year-old former Arsenal man was sidelined by an achilles injury. Willock was supposed to be out for another six weeks as a result of this latest injury.

While he isn’t fit enough to face Brentford or AC Milan, there is some hope that Willock is closer to a return than first imagined based on the rate he was doing on the treadmill. Although there has been no update on his comeback, we may still have to wait until October to see him in black and white.

In fact, there’s a lot of fans who’d love to see Willock back in our midfield in place of one of the current starters such is his importance to the side.

Hopefully it won’t be long before Willock is back in the line-up for Newcastle and helping the Magpies get some more points on the board this season.
