Six Lions players are sidelined for Week 6 practices, according to an injury update.

On Wednesday, the Detroit Lions held their first formal practice for Week 6. It was significant as much for who wasn’t practicing as it was for preparing for the Buccaneers’ visit to Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Six players were sidelined due to injuries. Two of them, CB Emmanuel Moseley and RB Zonovn Knight, were expected after suffering injuries in the Panthers’ Week 5 victory. Moseley will need surgery for a ruptured right ACL, and Knight exited the game with what appeared to be a significant left arm injury.

Jonah Jackson, the starting left guard, did not practice. He is reported to have suffered a high ankle sprain versus Carolina.

Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring), Brian Branch (ankle), and James Mitchell (hamstring) all sat out. All three were also absent from Sunday’s game.

Head coach Dan Campbell was bullish about Gibbs and Branch’s chances in Tampa, but less so about Mitchell.

“Well, we’ll see.” “He’s on a day-to-day basis,” Campbell said of Gibbs. “There are a lot of these men. He and Branch are on a daily basis.”

Both wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown (abdomen) and left tackle Taylor Decker (ankle) were restricted. Cornerback Khalil Dorsey took part fully as he prepares to return from injured reserve.

Campbell added the following about St. Brown:

“I feel much better about (St. Brown) Saint now.” Saint, I believe, will be out there practicing, at least a little. But we just have to take things day by day.”

One positive note: no sign of safety Kerby Joseph on the injury report after he was questionable for Week 5. He was a full participant.
