Teague is out for Tuesday’s game, according to Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, because he did not travel with the club.

Teague’s injury will have an impact on the Hawks’ offensive effectiveness.

Teague was one of the NBA’s rising stars in 2014-15, helping the Hawks to the Eastern Conference’s top seed and a meeting with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the conference finals.

According to Basketball-Reference.com, the floor general averaged 15.9 points and seven assists during that victory, making him one of seven qualified players to fulfill those statistical criteria. As a result, Teague was named to the Eastern Conference All-Star squad for the first time in his career.

Teague is averaging a career-high 17.1 points per game with 6.5 assists through 11 games this season, but his shooting percentage has dropped from 46 percent last year to 42.6 this season.

The Hawks are still playing well as a team, with an 8-4 record, but Teague’s ankle injury will undoubtedly affect the dynamic of Budenholzer’s offense.

If Teague is forced to sit for an extended length of time, point guard Dennis Schroder’s minutes are expected to skyrocket. Schroder’s jump-shooting ability isn’t on par with Teague’s, but he can give a spark as an off-the-bounce playmaker.
